Psoriasis
Published on 4 March 2023 · Dr. Medical Clinic & Lab
Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that causes skin cells to build up rapidly. This leads to scaling of the skin. Skin cells are normally replaced every 3–4 weeks. In people with psoriasis, this process happens every 3–4 days. This is not enough time for the cells to mature normally, which causes irritated, red to grayish scaly patches on the surface of the skin.
Triggers of psoriasis symptoms include:
Genetics
The immune system
Alcohol
Smoking
Stress
Hormonal changes
Allergic reactions
