Urinary infections
Urinary tract infections are among the most common problems. The main signs are burning when urinating, frequent urination, pain in the lower abdomen, and cloudy or foul-smelling urine.
If left untreated, infections can spread to the kidneys. Early treatment prevents complications. If you have a fever, chills or pain in the middle of your back, contact a doctor without delay.
Monitoring for chronic patients
For patients with chronic kidney disease, diabetes or high blood pressure, the nephrologist schedules regular check-ups to monitor kidney function and adjust treatment. Read also our article on chronic kidney disease.
How to prepare
Bring your previous lab results and ultrasounds, as well as a list of your medications. For blood tests, fasting for 8–12 hours is recommended; for a urine culture, the first morning urine is collected.
